Ron and I continue our search for a solution to the buzzing D-string. We make progress and then do what we always do - Eat!

I bring in my carbon fiber baby to get a tough assessment from “Dr.” Ron. It’s rough going as we try and find a solution to the annoying buzzing string problem I seem to be having.

We finish up the interview with cello player Greg Herrernan who in our last episode brought by two celli he was considering purchasing. And we hear the FINAL DECISION!

Mary Rowell (violin) began to learn violin at age 6 when her mother suggested it. After many years of bribes, brow-beatings and being allowed to drive the farm tractor to lessons in the summer, Mary receiv

ed BM and MM degrees from the Juilliard School and is currently Concertmaster of the Radio City Orchestra and the Palm Beach Pops. She performs regularly as a recitalist and has appeared internationally as electric violin soloist with The New York City Ballet. A member of the Grammy®Award-winning Tango Project and a founding member of the alt-rock band the Silos, she has also toured and collaborated with Sheryl Crow, Joe Jackson, Madonna and Clem Snide, among others. Mary is from Vermont and has been known to confound and amaze people with her command of the native dialect, by jeezum!

MASTERING

Another guy I love to talk with is mastering engineer (and cellist!) Steve Berson of Total Sonic Media. Steve has mastered my last 4 projects and like Ron, he knows his stuff and likes to talk about it.  I always look forward to finishing a mix as I know I’ll be heading over to Steve’s place where I’ll hear my music on his amazing system. We may get a little too technical, but I think this week’s podcast is an interesting look at this mysterious art of mastering.
